China Tang Presents Triple Blessings for Year Of The Tiger
Chinese New Year Puddings, Poon Choi and Lo Hei
China Tang’s Artisan Chinese New Year Puddings
A Modern Take on Classic Recipe │ 2 New Flavours to Welcome a Momentous Year
(Hong Kong, 22 Dec 2021) To welcome the auspicious Year of the Tiger, the world-renowned Chinese restaurant China Tang Landmark presents two whole new Chinese New Year puddings — “Turnip Pudding with Dried Tiger Prawn and Local Preserved Meat” & “Handmade Rice Pudding with Taiwanese Brown Sugar and Purple Rice”, crafted by Executive Chef Menex Cheung and Dim Sum Chef Mok Wing Kwai with their talented culinary team. Both puddings come in a modern-classic gift box fusing with China Tang’s signature Narcissus pattern, symbolizing grace and fortune, paired with a handbag adorned with vibrant purple and orange colours that make it a perfect gift for your loved ones to celebrate togetherness.
Giving the authentic pudding an innovative rehaul, Chef Menex releases the “Turnip Pudding with Dried Tiger Prawn and Local Preserved Meat”, made with hand-chopped local winter turnips to give the pudding a denser, juicier and naturally sweeter mouthful. On top of the classic mix of local sun-dried meats and sausages, Japanese Souya conpoy and dried shrimps, the addition of locally caught and dried tiger prawns, paired with aromatic Yunnan black tiger palm mushroom, adds rich umami and complexity to this classic festive treat.
To satisfy fellow sweet tooths, the “Handmade Rice Pudding with Taiwanese Brown Sugar and Purple Rice” features Chef Menex’s secret pudding mix without artificial sugar and water, but instead uses natural handmade black cane sugar from Chihkan, Taiwan and fresh-made coconut milk, leaving a lingering delicate sweetness and aroma. To balance with its chewy and gelatinous texture, Chef Menex added a layer of organic purple rice to give this new year dessert a pleasant crunchiness.
Turnip Pudding with Dried Tiger Prawn and Local Preserved Meat” & “Handmade Rice Pudding with Taiwanese Brown Sugar and Purple Rice” are both priced at HK$388/box, selling in China Tang Landmark. China Tang accepts pre-orders from now on and the New Year’s puddings are available for collection from January 17 to January 31, 2022. Enjoy the early bird offer HK$288/box upon purchasing on or before 15 Jan 2022. China Tang Landmark’s Chinese New Year Puddings are all handmade, limited in quantity, while stock lasts.

About China Tang Landmark
China Tang was founded by Dr Peter Lam Kin-ngok – a renowned gourmand and fine-dining connoisseur, and the late Sir David Tang Wing-cheung. Debuting in 2013 at the Landmark, the distinctive traditional Chinese art and intricate design details reflect the sensibilities of our two founders: hand-painted and embroidered tapestries, classic thread-bound manuscripts, modern artwork and inimitable modern Chinese style.

A celebration of Chinese cooking, our menu features beloved Cantonese dishes, while also paying homage to the flavours of Sichuan and Beijing. Today, China Tang embodies Dr Lam’s strict “ingredients first” philosophy – from organic local produce and fresh seafood to quality seasonal ingredients imported from around the world, everything is hand-picked for quality and the peak of flavour. Our chefs continue to expand the boundaries of Chinese cooking techniques, shunning additives and MSG to ensure each dish is not only delicious, but healthy and nutritious as well.
